Recent Inspirations

I guess somebody at apple was bound to have this idea? Santa Clause skyping with Mrs. Clause from an iphone4 while out on the job... As trite as it may be I still thought it was adorable.

An old cruiser I spotted at the Big Bear used bike sale for $30. It was too rusty and hard to ride to buy it, but I loved the look, how can you not?

A heavenly little place I discovered called Crumbs Bake Shop around Metro Center (cross streets: 11th and F St). I was really so mesmerized by their collection of baked goods, I could've dove right in! Do yourself a favor and go in this place if you happen to walk by it. You won't leave without getting something and when you leave you'll be on a sugar high and lickin' your fingers!

Ok that's all for now. A very happy new year to you all!

Must Have for Fall

Victoria's Secret fitted Redskins (or whatever team you want) jersey with rhinestone-studded numbers.

Gotta love it.

The NFL merchandise is part of their Pink collection so it has that obnoxious insignia on the back, but it's barely noticeable.

They have numerous other glamified variations which are all cute. This one was the best I thought but had I more credit, I would have bought one of each style!

And PS readers...this blog is coming back. Stay tuned.

Long Beach Craft Fair

It's a perfect day for the beach! And a craft fair too! Life is good.

Mini strawberry cupcakes! Couldn't resist.

Lots of jewelry...a little pricey for a craft fair though, the necklaces above were upward of $50 and the embroidered bracelets below metriculated around $100.

Sterling silver dipped in gold ring stack..

And ofcourse the obligatory trying on of hats...

And more...

There was a great big variety of food...turkeys' a-roastin'

And the beach

Love the scent of that salty air.

Street Style

I loved this girl's look at Big Bear Cafe today. A little fallish looking for such a hot summer day, but fall is just around the corner. And it's nice to see some sporting the looks early, so I can get some ideas and come fall I've got a good base.

Love the small flower print with the belt and 2" heels. The bag is real cute too, love the long shoulder strap they are the easiest to wear.

Reston Visit

If you are ever in Reston, do yourself a favor and go to Lake Anne for some pleasant shopping and dining. I know the bright lights of the Reston Town Center will lure you toward midtown, but this quaint little shopping center with excellent restaurants, cute shops, and scenic view of the lake makes for a way nicer afternoon or evening.

The vintage/consignment shop at Lake Anne Plaza is Vogue to Vintage.

The sister got this colorful scarf. I love colorful scarves...you can wear them all year and they can act as the statement piece of the entire outfit. Just pair it with basics and you've got a stand out ensemble.

I got a few pair of earrings and was deeply pondering this purse...

Cute, right? It was only $7. And 2 pairs of earrings only cost $9. So the haul was a purse, and 2 pair retro earrings for $16. I think that's a pretty good bargain!

Granted she did have some more expensive stuff, but all in all a great little place to check out.

And if you're at Lake Anne, you've gotta stop into one of my favorite restaurants (and old place of employment), Jasmine Cafe. The food is AMAZING. Trust me, just go eat there and you can thank me later.

There is also a great little Used Book Shop with a very friendly staff and pretty good selection.

So check out Lake Anne Plaza in Reston, VA! Reston Town Center has great shops too, but Lake Anne has more of a rootsy, European feel.

Springtime Bliss

"His name is Tito, and he's Caucasian."

I love Chelsea, I can't put her down! She's so funny and twisted! Even though this book is not as crazy as the last two. But the twisted mind is still there and with that, is endless possibilities. I bet she'll keep writing till she's old. And I'll keep reading her when she's old!

Rags to Riches

I believe this store used to be located over in H Street NE, but it just moved into the second floor space at 1734 14th Street, NW. The soft open was last week and the grand opening was Saturday (5/8), so they should be open for good now. They have some cute stuff at pretty reasonable prices. Although most of it is not vintage, so it seems like kind of a false label for the store.

Those brown walls in there are icky. Sooo unappetizing for a boutique. But I will definitely go back here. The merchandise was frugalista friendly, interesting, and unique. I found a number of things I considered purchasing.

The sister browsing the shelves.

This is the dressing room I kinda like the design.

This is the Imaginary Voyage shirt I got there for $25. Definitely a little play on the dressed up tie-die trend we're seeing these days, but with a splatter paint feel. I love it! Shirts like this are amazing because they can be worn daytime casual or transition into evening. Anything versatile is always a good investment.

more Hills chatter

Here's the trailer for the season in case you missed it:

Season 6 trailer

I can't wait to see when Spencer loses it. If Heidi was my wife I'd go crazy too.

Oh and I loved how they confronted Kristin on her drug habits after talking shit about her in the next room. They gave her so much shit for wearing sunglasses it was hilarious. Those sunglasses were really cute. And did anyone notice the two girls who scampered out of Kristin's bed when they came in? Wtf? That was funny.

Did anyone see Kristin Cavallari on the after show?

I thought this dress was awesome, but her figure is too boyish for it to be flattering on her. She's toothpick thin with no hips. This dress would work better on Kim Kardashian, or even the new Heidi haha. I always think Kristin looks better dressed down than dressed up. God she's so thin I can't help but think this is what Justin Bieber's body would look like if he put on a tight dress and a bra.

This season is gonna be good.

Tighter...Frozen

"What? You act like I got a new face or something."

-the one and only Heidi Montag

The Hills Season 6 premiered tonight...supposedly the last season. I thought it deserved some commentary.

First of all, I didn't know Heidi also got butt implants..in addition to the nine other surgeries she got in a day.

From that angle it actually doesn't look bad,but the pool pics with her in the showgirl bikini are repulsive. The shelf ass does seem to be a hot commodity these days and that is why those of us with ample rears owe Jennifer Lopez our undying allegiance. I thank her every night before I go to sleep.

But Montag's got nothing on me for real

Didn't she say she had fat from somewhere else in her body injected into her ass? It really floors me that someone would want to do that, right!? Is there like an assfat donation clinic where I could go and get rid of some of mine? I guess one woman's trash is another woman's treasure.

Uesa Goods Vintage...cont.

She has a whole room upstairs too that's got some treasures to be found. She edits what she puts downstairs into the "shop" well.

That 60s cocktail dress would be a scream to wear!

Her hats were the greatest!

I finally decided on a 60s gold chained cocktail purse and a tangerine spring dress.

I'm wearing the purse here if you can see it in the mirror. You can't see the awesome details though. It's a little gem close up. The dress perhaps you will see in photos to come. It's a delicious little creamsicle you'll know it when you see it.

Uesa Goods Vintage is an interesting and diverse collection. Check it out!

Uesa Goods Vintage

This lady and her collection/shop are fantastic! She sells online and has a shop set up in her house, which she shows by appointment only. Her collection could certainly fill a shop though. I had tons of fun in there!

The necklace on the mirror was a beautiful piece. The long part in front drapes almost all the way down to the navel, I tried it on. It's the perfect mix of silver and gold. $145 price tag.

Her shoes were cool even though I would never dream of buying vintage shoes. The thought of putting my foot into somebody else's fungus compartment repulses me. I like looking at them though!

Missed Connections

Found this entertaining blog where Brooklyn artist, Sophie Blackall, posts her illustrations to the Craigslist Missed Connections entries:

Missed Connections NY

A lot of times those ads are just plain creepy, but sometimes they are funny and/or cute. There is something romantic about all the missed opportunities people go through day after day. So many things that go unfinished. In Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Penelope Cruz's character, Maria Elena, insists that "only unfulfilled love can be romantic."

She also sells her stuff on Etsy:

She's turning creepy desperation into visual Fairy Tales. Love the concept.
