Revival

It's a dreary winter day here in Bloomingdale, DC and I already can't wait for spring. When I walk outside the cold hits me and even my accessories (which are ample) can't keep me warm.

I decide it's the perfect day to start thinking about my perfect new spring dress. I already have it, you can view it here

I am going to have it redesigned by the team at Ginger Root Design. The relatively new boutique is located on U Street NW, between 15th and 16th, flanked by other neighborhood favorites such as Shoefly, Junction and Legendary Beast. The store is a mixture of vintage goods, jewelry from local designers, and their own Spring-Summer line of clothes in addition to pieces they have remade/redesigned/repurposed or whatever you would like to call that process that I am about to embark upon.

This jacket immediately caught my attention. I fell in love with the bold dusty retro red color and what they did with such a plain boyish blazer.



Needless to say, I'm harboring much hope and anticipation for my dress and fingers crossed, if it comes out as well as I hope, I will wear it to a wedding I have scheduled for May 14th.

The wedding is a very rare coupling of two people who are perfect for each other and metaphorically speaking, I would like to think of it as a sort of revival of my own hope in love and life.

Thus, I would like to dress in the spirit of a hopeful and diligent spring.

The dress is a 70s shift that hangs graciously, but without much shape.

Since I have undeniable curves, I would like to show them off with a more fitted version of this classic A-line.

Now, adding more shape might be risky with this pattern...that's why I think it's a challenge.

The pattern is so bold and lively in itself that adding dramatic shape might overwhelm it.

But I also think adding the shape will really bring it into this age and this time.

The moment of now.

And for God's sake the neon brights could not be more in for spring.

Thus, I will begin the overhaul and document its progress.
