Missoni for Target

This is one of the ads for the 400 piece collection Missoni is unleashing for Target next week, modeled by none other than Margherita herself, who I think is absolutely gorgeous. I've been lusting after Missoni goods forever, but the real deal is a little too steep for my blood-although I'm sure it would be worth the $$$ to own something from them. The line includes a slew of accessories, sleep and lounge-wear, menswear, kids clothing, bedding, home goods & kitchenwares in addition to the women's clothing featured here.

This whole collection is to die for but here are some of my faves for you to ogle until the 13th when this collection drops. I'm thinking everything is going to sell out absurdly quick so my plan is to go online early next Tuesday to try to secure a few of these pieces.

I am so drawn in by their patterns, it's ridicuous. They're like gravity

Although I think the most interesting piece of this ensemble is the pleaded maxi skirt; what a great statement piece. They had a number of black and white looks, but I am more attracted to their colors.

Aaaaah me want this dress although no one will ever look as good as Margherita does wearing it.

This vest is making me drool

What a dress, right?! I waaaant to own

I've been looking for some chic flats with a little bit of pop for a while - do you think these qualify?

I reeeeeaaally want this hat & scarf set too

And these socks to wear exposed with boots!

Isn't this little onesie so adorable!? Whatever babe gets to wear this is a lucky little nugget indeed!

September 13th is right around the corner so set your alarms & reminders frugalistas...don't wait till the weekend to go check it out, this treasure trove might very well vanish within a couple of days. And I don't know about you, but I can't not have something!

DC Goodwill shoot outtakes

A few weeks ago I was thrilled to do a guest blogger post for DC Goodwill, you can view the full post here. Since I could only post a few photos to the official post, I thought I'd give you all a little slice of what didn't make the cut.

Lucky brand flare jeans from DC Goodwill, blouse: Forever 21, belt: Express, shoes: Nine West, sunglasses: vintage, clutch & necklace from Rehobeth Beach boutique, Sole

I am obesessing over animal prints this Fall...I think this top is more of a giraffe than leopard print, but who cares-either way it's hot! Makes me want to growl and claw my nails at someone Jersey Shore style. I am still scavenging for more variety of safari garb...I would still like some animal print shoes and a leopard print dress if I can find affordable pieces that fit the bill. What animal print pieces have you found this season?

I think I will wear this outfit to work this casual Friday (I know it will get some reactions I can't wait :) HELLO FALL!!

DC FABB Meetup @ Violet Boutique!

This was my first DC FABB blogger meetup, it was so fun! The event was held at Violet Boutique in Adams Morgan; a really great and reasonably-priced boutique. Such fun and interesting pieces at Zara-esque prices=win for me. DC FABBERs enjoyed 10% off at this event. It was wonderful to meet and chat with other local style and beauty bloggers. Everyone there looked so adorable and was so nice! It was great to do this right before the Fall season hits just to see what all the stylista minds are swirling about for the upcoming season.

Snacks, beverages & personalized DC FABB cookies were an added bonus

Cute packaging, right!? I ended up limiting my purchase to some bangles ($16 with the discount), but was tempted by many other goodies in the store. Will definitely go back whenever I go perusing the Adams Morgan shops (usually a Saturday afternoon activity).

Aren't they cute!? Love the Aztec pattern and woven style on the big one. Can't wait to go back to Violet Boutique & I'm already looking forward to the next DC FABB Meetup! Very proud and excited to be a member of this group!

Boots & Socks

So I've decided that this is the Fall where I'm going to try the exposed socks with boots look. I love the way it looks in catalogues & magazines & on other people, but have never really jumped on board with it myself. But this Fall I'm up for anything so why the hell not?! I think it's also a great look for the slightly warmer Fall days when tights seem too hot and cumbersome.

I went to Target the other day with the goal of getting some cute socks-success! But after I loaded up on those, I found myself meandering into the shoe section which yielded this super cute pair of black lace-ups:

I think these will look great with skirts & dresses and maybe even cropped or harem pants. Lace-up boots are hot right now and also fun to wear in differnet ways...these have the clasps up the top so you can fool around with zig zagging the laces in different ways or wear the laces a little looser/tighter/distressed to fit your mood/outfit.

I love new shoes, don't you!?

Beautiful Beaded top from DC Goodwill!

Believe it or not this beauty of a top came from the DC Goodwill store (South Dokota Ave NE location). It's amazing what you can find at Goodwill! This top only cost me $5. I also found a pair of Lucky Brand jeans that I just featured in my guest blogger post for the DC Goodwill Fashionista blog. I love how the beading glistens in the sunlight. The way the shirt caresses the body along with the shine almost gives it the alluring effect of dripping water. It's very mermaidish, I love it!

Here, I am standing in front of a sculpture that I believe was featured in the Bloomingdale Art & Music Walk that took place August 6th. I was disappointed to have missed it, but I was out of town that weekend. Luckily, some of the artists leave their work on display for a while so that stragglers like me can get to see at least some of the great pieces that were showcased. This sculpture was larger than life and made me feel really small standing next to it. I wanted to run through it, play in it, lie in it and look up through it at the sky.

The skirt I am wearing is vintage suede, it's a fantastic piece for fall and winter. I got it at Treasury last year and it's been a staple piece in my wardrobe ever since. The shoes are Levity from DSW and the clutch is from a Rehobeth Beach boutique called Sole. I love pairing dark brown edgy pieces with a soft fluttery pink, like so. The skirt also looks charming with tights and booties for late fall ensembles.

I came home with a few other goodies from Goodwill, maybe you will see some more in future blog posts! Gonna have to make another trip back there soon!

Anne in McQueen & Carven

Aaah the lovely Anne. She is wearing an Alexander McQueen dress with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and bag & shoes by Christian Louboutin at the One Day Premiere.

I actually find her to be pretty annoying most of the time and I think her new movie looks stupid, but her style these days is almost always dead on point. I am in love iwth this dress and the gold pumps are to die. It's a perfect choice for late summer/pre-Fall. The hair and make-up are beautifully fresh, I am so jealous of her pout it's not fair that a white woman gets those lips!

Her choice for the after party was absolutely gorgeous as well. The dress is Carven and the shoes are Roger Vivier. The shimmery nude color looks stunning on her and I LOVE the bell shape of the bottom part! I am trying to find a good bell shape dress like this for Fall, it's such a flattering and comfortable shape. And so chic! I'm sure Rachel Zoe deserves most of the credit, but these two looks were incredible!

Sporty with Flare

This is such a great casual-basic look that you can really spruce up with any of your favorite accessories (scarves, dangly earrings, colorful bangles over the shirtsleeve...possibilities are endless). Looking ahead toward fall, it's the perfect unfussy outfit for rainy days or sunny weather with more vibrant flare. The Jersey Pocket skirt and pink sweatshirt are from American Apparel, tights are Nine West.

I believe I bought these chunky brown lace-up boots from Express in 1997...Yeah, you heard me, '97! Back then, I was full-throttle into my grunge phase and I wore them with raggedy jeans and plaid flannel. I usually rock them with a little more girly approach now, they look great with skirts and dresses. If I wear them into this season I will probably need to get them re-soled, but isn't that incredible that I can still wear 'em and love 'em after 14 years!? I believe it's important to circulate your closet seasonally (out with the old, in with the new), but there will always be things you just can't let go of. It was like that with these.

And finally my favorite part of the outfit: a vintage necklace I got from Ginger Root Design. All you have to do to take this basic outfit to the next level is add a statement accessory. This necklace is a beautiful metal piece that commands attention. An exquisite touch to an insanely comfortable outfit!
