The September Issue
This looks good!!
The September Issue
Documentary about Vogue and the editor, Anna Wintour (Editor Meryl Streep's character in The Devil Wears Prada was based on)
Barnes & Noble version has behind the scenes extras.
The DVD was released this past Tuesday (2/23/10).
Hope to see it soon...will report after I see it.
Spinach Vintage Pop-Up Shop
Fashion is Spinach blogger Betsey Lowther ("Ms. Spinach"), who also does the blog for FW and a contributor to the Express's Style section is doing a vintage Pop-Up Store this weekend at Propper Topper in Georgetown.
The event looks pretty good, with vintage pieces at low prices. She's saying $20-$35 for dresses, $40 for coats, and handbags for $5. The event is going on this weekend: Saturday 2/27 11 am - 7 pm (champagne from 11-3) and Sunday 2/28 Noon-6 pm with new pieces.
View some of the pieces HERE
Not crazy about the floral stuff, but some of the coats are interesting. Seems worth stopping by.

NOVA Fashion Week
So what do ya know, the DC area has a fashion week!
NOVA Fashion Week
I am kind of excited about this, yes? It's March 21-March 27, 2010.
The event location is at the Waterfront Park in Old Town Alexandria (King Street metro stop less than a mile away-Blue and Yellow lines. There will be a trolley that takes you directly to the event location).
The schedule includes a total of what looks like 9 Designer Runway shows throughout the week (most on opening and closing Days: Sunday, March 21st and Saturday, March 27), a "Celebrity Charity Event," and a Free Designer Trunk Show and Networking Event on Thursday night (March 25-7 pm).
They seem to throw around the word "celebrity" quite a bit, but I can't imagine anyone more famous than the asinine "stars" from the recently canceled CW show, Blonde Charity Mafia will be there, along with some other obscure z-listers from the DC social scene.
The event seems fun, nonetheless. The designers showcasing all work locally. They give BIOs on the event website.
TSYNDYMA, Walish Gooshe, and Tashia Senn are the ones I'd like to see. And the trunk show/networking engagement on Thursday night seems like a worthwhile event.
Anyway, it's great to see more fashion and style events coming to the area. So much of the city still seems bereft of style, but with efforts like this, eventually that will change.
Can't wait!
